Next weekend at the Coliseum / Sunshine Center in St Petersburg they are holding the 2nd Annual Pinellas Living Green Expo.

Pinellas Living Green inc.is a non-profit organization created "to promote sustainability-oriented products and behaviors in Pinellas County" The idea is educate local "residents on ways to lead more healthy and sustainable lives with less impact on the environment." Often you find there are ways to Save Money and Save the Environment - a true - win-win for Pinellas County!

This event is FREE and runs from 9am-5pm June 16th and from 10am-4pm on Sunday June 17th. There will even be FREE parking for the event. They have planned lots of FREE fun filled family activities and are even having a FREE tree giveaway. Directions are easy to follow.

There are over 80 exhibitors participating and it promises to be FUN and EDUCATIONAL! Hope to see you there!

Cyndee - I am intrigued by the whole green building ideas. Does Florida have a lot of green building? We do not here.

Cyndee I love the idea of green living. We have the wind power in NM which is really starting to pick up subscribers, as well as several green builders. Are you able to go to this expo?

Paula - we have lots going on - incorporating into what we're doing - we don't have much new construction here so we have to work it into what we already have or as we remodel homes and buildings.

Cyndee It cost about $12 a month more for the average use. A small price for clean energy. I wrote a blog about it I am sure you will be reading soon!

Green building seems to be picking up a lot of momentum I hope you can attend and learn even more information to help out your clients.  When we were moving from Tennessee several years ago TVA was starting to sell energy from renewable resources for a slightly higher rate.

green green green - it certainly is the wave of the future a lot of cities are making changes in codes to require green building it is important that Realtors and the public stay on top of this information.

GREEN - GREEN - I LOVE IT!!  What a great exhibit!!  We leave for GA next weekend or I could stop over.  There's so much to learn about helping preserve our natural surroundings.  I could definitely use more education here...

Nice to see such an expo and your support should help get the word out to your community.  In my "previous life" working on environmental policy I quickly learned that without the support of the consumer it doesn't matter how great the technology.  We need people to embrace going green.  Thanks for doing your part!

Lysa, I agree - I'm still learning so much myself and it's great to have it all accessible in one place too. I thought of you when i was out yesterday and saw some Blue Heron's and other birds - tried to get good shots but you must have a much better camera than me - if I got too close they were gone :-) - I'll just have to enjoy your great photos.

Wow Tina - you learn something new everyday - I'd love to hear more about your "past life" some time. You're right - no matter what it is in life - "marketing" creates the demand and actual utilization. I think it's great that they are making it a fun famiy event because if kids embrace these concepts early we're half way there...

Cyndee - yes, I got my grad degree in environmental policy and I worked for a long time for the Maryland State Legislature crafting policy.  I was fortunate that the Governor & the state of Maryland wanted to be ahead of the curve when it came to environmental protection & conservation.  Now that I'm in real estate so many people ask if I miss the environmental work, but I just explain how it all ties together. 

You are right about kids too.  Educate them early.  Remember the old saying "can't teach dog new tricks."  My 5 year old wouldn't know what to do without our recycling bin.

Tina - that's exactly what I was thinking - my kids are the same way and they are the first to get on someone for littering - next it will be demanding replenishable energy and so much more. You're right I can see  how you're background would tie well into real estate. Thanks for sharing more about yourself.

Cyndee...if you do attend please share, you can say I am very GREEN about being GREEN!  I saw that Tina mentioned something about recycling....we are one of the few house on the block with a full recycling bin every week...so I guess we are doing some of our part!

Cyndee, I have a Cannon Power Shot S1 IS It is a good little camera, but I would love to upgrade to a Rebel XTi. Remember, the great blue heron in my shots trusts me, she is normally 2 feet away. By the way she is back! I have tons of photos of her so nothing new was posted, but I did post some new visitors and one on our other Florida Snow Birds, the reason why I went with that camera. :)

Lysa - i have a Canon too - love how easy they are to use and usually pretty happy with the pictures. Yes the Rebel would be great! I'll look forward to seeing more pictures. :-)

Go Green!  I just heard on the news this morning of a new community in the area where the builder is going  ALL green!  It's a concept picking up momentum fast.  Good thing our expert is getting on board quickly!

Green is good and becoming a big issue with many homeowners here.  Bamboo products are the new rage and are well worth looking into for flooring and cabinets.  Beautiful and durable.
