The existing 2 lane low-level bridge is being scrapped to make way for a larger, higher, better bridge over the Clearwater Harbor waterways for Belleair Beach, Florida. 

This is an extensive project for Belleair Beach and Pinellas County is estimated to cost over $72 million and take about 3 1/2 years. The causeway is 1.67 miles in length and 2 bridges will be replaced with one large one that spans Clearwater Harbor.

Cyndee - what kind of traffic issues will this cause - I hope they thought about that in a way that motorist will not be pulling out their hair.

Mana - it definitely means you have to plan your travel times. Normal days are fine but when we hit season - it will mean long delays. The price of progress

Ashley - we have slowly and painfully been replacing the bridges which when done - each one is such an asset for traffic and ammenities - but there's no quick way to do it.

Thesa - I'm sure there will be people who will end up with less hair. The thing that makes it really tough is that the other way to get their from Clearwater Beach is full of construction doing the big Beach Walk project so there's nothing to do but give yourself plenty of time and enjoy the water views as you wait. :-)

David - it will be a great addition and the improve facilities will be really appreciated. One of the hardest parts about this construction is that we lost a widely used boat ramp during construction - that puts an extra load on all the others and some people have to travel further to put in now.

Cyndee, I hope that it will be fun all this construction to wait, see and have a slow traffic, sometimes when builders here in colorado do a construction of a public way it makes the traffic so slow hahaha.

Cyndee - looks like I am about to be scrapped! Love your titles!! These type of improvements, although necessary, seem to take so long to complete. Use it to your advantage; go where the traffic is and plant your signs :)

Okay....out with the old and in with the new...I'm gonna be 50 shortly...what can I do to "appear" new...haha!  I certainly am not scrap or intend to be..haha!  I sure liked that title. Anyway, usually after 50 years something needs to be changed ....in my case I constantly change so that's a good thing...no need to replace hahaha!  Thanks for the story.

Traffic?  What's traffic?  We don't have that in Florida...right!  Well, our hope is that the new bridge will be better for our community down the road and make local travel easier!  At least we are taking care of our bridges!  Enjoy the upcoming traffic jam by taking the opportunity to look at the water...it could be worse!

It's estimated to cost over $72 million?!  It better be one heck of a bridge!  I didn't check out the video but it sounds like most of the "causeway" part will be gone and it'll mostly be a bridge.  I'm sure it needed updating or to be expanded/replaced, but sometimes I like things the way they are.  Bigger isn't always better.

BTW, I see the GoDaddy blogs have improved quite a lot since they first offered them.
