Clearwater Real Estate Agent explains New Emergency Contact Registry

Susie Roscoe or Brandon, Florida explained not too long ago how to store your Emergency Contact person's info on your cell phone in her article: I.C.E. - In Case of Emergency.

Now The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles has now enhanced their website to allow anyone with a Florida Driver's License or Florida Identification Card to designate an Emergency Contact, whose info will be stored on their website- so it can be quickly accessed in an emergency.

To register for this service just go to their website: www.hsmv.state.fl.us and then Click on Emergency Contact Information Link. 

Seems like something we should make a priority and take the time to do and as we head into the summer - please drive safely.

Cyndee, great post... I sent out an email to everyone in my database awhile ago about ICE.  It's really important that everyone updates their cell phones.  Emergency personnel know to check cell phones when they need to get a hold of your loved ones.

Cyndee....  it seems that this is catching on in so many areas now. I heard about the I.C.E. tag for your cell phone. But I keep forgetting about the actual word. What cell phones should come out with is a hot button on the phone. When you hit it, it dials your emergency contact, so you don't have to remember these key words. hhhhmmmm   Maybe I should make my own cell phone.  In any case, this was interesting.

Irina - the funny thing is I programmed Jack's number in my cell phone as my ICE# and now whenever he calls me it says call from ICE (since it comes before J in Jack - LOL)

Cyndee - EXCELLENT!!  I had no idea that I could link "MY ICE" info to my driver's license!  EXCELLENT!!  This is even better knowing I always have my license and usually have my phone.  THANKS for the kudos about my I.C.E. Cyndee I had not heard this, how neat! I like it better the ICE, I don't always have my phone with me, I've dropped when riding on the bike, so I leave it at home when we're out riding now, but always have my ID. Than you!

Cyndee.... Great information, I have to check to see if Illinois has implemented something like this!  I know that you know longer have to sign the drivers licenses to be an organ donor, you just register yourself on-line.  This is a nice feature!

Hi Cyndee - this is a great tidbit to know about.  One of my sisters lives in Apopka, and she told all of us in my family about this, and now we've all set up the phonebooks in our cell phones like this.  Great tip to share with everyone.

Hey Paula - nope, didn't have that problem.  I listed them in my phone as "ICE - Karen - sis", etc.  I figured that way, if any emergency personnel are going through my cell phone book, they'll know who those identified as "ICE" are to me and why they're listed that way.
